Update on the FDNY Exam

The Department of Citywide Administrative Services just recently announced the FDNY exam will be held in the Fall 2024. The applications to file for the FDNY exam are coming out on the DCAS website starting June 24, 2024.

The FDNY recruit team will continue to reach out to potential candidates and encourage them to apply for the New York City Firefighter exam and become one of New York’s Bravest.

Additionally, a prep course for the upcoming FDNY exam is being given by Civil Service Success and this tutorial course to help candidates score a high mark on this exam will be holding classes in the September 2024. Starting salary for a Firefighter is $45,196. But with overtime and holiday pay, which is often required, you can get additional compensation. After five years, a Firefighter can make more than $100,000, including overtime and holiday pay.

The Civil Service Success course focuses primarily on the written exam. The written exam will consist of computer based multiple-choice questions designed to test candidates on nine ability areas. These abilities include such areas as memorization, spatial orientation, written comprehension and problem sensitivity. The Hybrid FDNY Exam Prep Course will include practice exams which will allow candidates to assess their current level of performance, as well as identify those ability areas upon which they will need to focus their study efforts. This Opportunity to become a New York City Firefighter only comes out once every 5 to 7 years.
