The Requirements to Apply for a Suffolk County Police Officer

How to apply for Suffolk County Police Officer?

The upcoming Suffolk Country Police test is scheduled for June 15th 2019.

To register, you first need to create a civil service account here. If you already have an account, then use your existing user ID to log in.

Next, you need to fill out the e-Filing section online. The form will ask you some basic questions to verify your personal information. This includes details regarding your education background and work experience.

Once you’re done filling all the information, click on the “Add Currently Scheduled Exams to Cart” button. Here, you can choose to sign up for the police officer exam—which is in English—or the Police Spanish Speaking Exam.

What are the requirements for a Suffolk County Police Officer?

Age: You must be at least 19 years and at most 34 years on the date of your written test. If you’re younger or older on the test date, it doesn’t matter when the results roll around because you will be disqualified. This is with exception for applicants who have performed active military duty. These applicants get a 6 year relaxation from the maximum age.

Education: Candidates must have graduated from a high school or be in possession of an equivalent diploma that is recognized by the New York State Department of Education.

License: Candidates should possess a valid operator’s or driver’s license issued by the New York State Department at the time of their appointment.

Citizenship: A candidate must be a US citizen and a resident of the state of New York at the time of their appointment.

Written Exam: Candidates who pass their police test will be required to pass relevant medical, polygraph and personality tests. They must also undergo a comprehensive background check and physical fitness test.
